Extra Credit Assignments

Over the December break, you can complete any of the following extra credit assignments.

1. If you visit a museum or historical place, you can write about it. Be sure to include the name of the museum, address, and to explain at least three items that you saw in the museum. As a conclusion, you can write if it is a good place to visit.

2. Interview one of you family members. During this time of year, many of you might see you grandparents. You can write about where they grew up and their experiences.

3. Read either a biography, autobiography, or historical fiction book and write at least a one page summary about it.

4. Watch a documentary on channel 13 and write a summary about it. Be sure to write the name of the program.

DYO

December 17 and December 18 will be the DYO. You will need to bring in at least two number two pencils.

Home Work

Every night, my students should be reviewing the hand outs that were distributed that day. Also, students are to answer the focus question. They are to write their responses into their historian's journal. I will begin collecting the journals during the week of December 21.

The DYO will be given next week. Please start to review all your notes and hand outs.

Home Work

A packet about World War II was given to the students on Thursday. I expect it to be completed by Monday.

To prepare for the NYS Social Studies test which is given on June 2, and 3, packets are distributed.
I gave a packet about the Civil Rights Movement ads well as one on great documents in US history.

Please review your work so you can pass the test.

Vacation home work

All students received a packet about the Roaring Twenties that needs to be completed and handed to me when we come back from break.

Also, any student who wishes to do an extra credit assignment can do one of the following:

1. Create a poster about an invention.
2. Visit a museum and write an essay about it. Please be sure to explain what you thought about it and what the museum had in its collection
3. Create a poster about a famous American.

Homework - Week of March 23 - April 6

A packet on the Spanish American War and WWI was given to all students. The completed packet is due on April 6th.
The packet will be returned to the students so they can use it as a study guide for their NYS social studies test.
